In 2012 and 2013, I pioneered an initiative called #TweeForHope, which aimed to harness the power of social media to support Hope Mission's annual radiothon. I brought together some of Edmonton's most influential Twitter users to help drive donations and increase awareness. Typically, the radiothon's noon hour was a slow period, bringing in only a few hundred dollars. But with the coordinated effort of 20 tweeters, we were able to raise over $10,000 in just one hour both years. This marked the start of many successful "Tweet Up" fundraising events that followed, and it showcased the potential of social media for making a real impact in the community.
